Sundays at Christ Church
The usual pattern of our Sunday services:
8.00 a.m. Holy Communion.
10.30 a.m. Family Morning Prayer with crèche and Sunday Club. (Holy Communion 3rd Sunday of the month).
At the Sailor's Church: From mid-June to mid-September there is an evening service at 6.00 p.m.at the Sailors’ Church in Ramsgate Harbour.
Morning Prayer at 10.30 a.m.. This is our main Sunday service. On most Sundays we use a contemporary order for Morning Prayer and we have a service of Holy Communion on the third Sunday of the month.
We aim to be family-friendly, and many children attend the service. There is a crèche for pre-school children with easy access to and from the service at the back of the church. Children of primary school age may attend the Sunday Club. There are two groups (Infants and Juniors) and the children enjoy a Bible story and craft.
We sing hymns mainly from the Praise! hymnbook but we are increasingly including more contemporary songs and our singing is usually accompanied by a pianist and several instrumentalists.
We use the New International Version of the Bible .
One of our priorities is to learn together from the Bible, so the sermon is a major part of the service.
From time to time we have All Age Services where all the children (except for those in the crèche) stay in for the whole service. The service is rather shorter and the teaching is geared towards the children.
The service of Holy Communion at 8.00 a.m. is a quieter service from the Book of Common Prayer using more traditional language. This service is “said” – there are no hymns or music.
During the summer we join with other churches at the Sailors’ Church in Ramsgate Harbour on Sunday evenings at 6.00 p.m.
